Summer is the season of blockbusters. From action, to thrillers, to action-thrillers, in the next couple of months most of us want to relax, turn our brain off, and enjoy some simplistic entertainment. And what better way to enjoy action-thrillers than by chilling on the couch with a cold beer or soda, snacking on popcorns.
Netflix is one of the most popular streaming services, bringing you truly thrilling and exciting films right to your home. In this article, we are going to take a look at some of the best of the best action movies that you can check out on Netflix right now. Without further ado, let’s get into the nitty gritty of the list.
Polar
Mads Mikkelsen has become a household name. Starring in MCU-related films, James Bond, and even the new Harry Potter prequels, the Danish actor has certainly made a name for himself. So, it is quite refreshing to see him also take on some less-notable, under-the-radar roles.
For example, Mikkelsen does an incredible job portraying the former assassin, Duncan Vizla in Netflix’s 2019 neo-noir, action-thriller Polar. Though a critical failure, Polar does bring a world of underground hitmen and assassins to life, and manages to tell a relatively fun story along the way. If you liked John Wick, you should at least give it a go.
Army of the Dead
Zac Snyder is certainly a controversial director. His vision for the DCEU is either beloved or reviled by fans of the greater superhero universe. However, there is no denying that he has produced some bangers. And certainly, Army of the Dead is one of them.
The premise of the film sees a group of thieves plan the heist of a life-time; robbing a casino that has been overrun by zombies. Can they overcome the zombie menace, or will the Army of the Dead ultimately overwhelm them? Check out this film, and find out.
Upgrade
We discussed straight action, and we spruced the list up with some horror. In this final entry, let us throw in science fiction into the mix. Upgrade is a 2018 cyberpunk, action-thriller, starring Logan Marshall-Green in the role of Grey Trace.
After a violent mugging leads to the death of his wife, and the loss of his legs, Trace agrees to an experimental procedure that would allow him to control his body. The catch? His nervous system is under the control of an Artificial Intelligence.
Upgrade is a classic neo-noir, cyberpunk story, with incredibly thrilling action sequences, a fun mystery, and plot twists that are a staple of the noir and science fiction genre. We recommend it for fans of Blade Runner, The Matrix franchise, and similar sci-fi action stories.
